Overview

The second highest waterfall in the island, it stands at a magnificent height of 220 metres. It is located approximately 40km from Ella, close to Koslanda on the side of the Colombo – Badulla highway, and is therefore much easier to access in comparison to the Upper Diyaluma Falls. The pool here at the foot of the fall is ideal for a refreshing dip.

The waterfall is formed by Punagala Oya, a branch of Kuda Oya which in turn, is a branch of Kirindi Oya. The horsetail type falls cascades down Koslanda Plateau. Ideally, the Sinhalese terms ´Diyaluma´ or ´Diya Haluma´ translates to “rapid flow of water” or “liquid light”.
