Set off from Colombo just before sunrise to arrive in Kalutara around 8:30 – 9:00 am and enjoy a late breakfast at the hotel. It is important to leave relatively early as these roads can be quite busy with school and office traffic. Kalutara beach is a haven for sea and sunbathing, boasting crystal blue waters. Utilise this day to rest and relax on the beach.

Start your ride from Kalutara at sunrise to arrive at your hotel in Unawatuna between 9:30 – 10:00 am where breakfast will be provided. Take the time to rest after your long ride and enjoy the beautiful beaches of Unawatuna. Upon request, snorkeling gear can be arranged for you at the popular snorkeling site a short boat ride from the shore. Or else take the evening to enjoy a relaxed swim in the ocean. Unawatuna is a popular party destination along the south beaches of Sri Lanka, spend two days in Unawatuna to enjoy what this destination has to offer.

Today is rest day, with the driver and guide at your disposal. Not far from Unawatuna, is Galle. Galle is home to Galle Fort, declared a UNESCO World Heritage site. Try a short ride to Galle Fort where you can then use the day to explore the beautifully paved roads which are filled with quaint little boutiques. A walking tour of the Fort is recommended.

Set off at sunrise as usual to complete your trip from Unawatuna to Tangalle at approximately 10.30 am and enjoy a late breakfast by the beach. Be sure to expect breathtaking views of the coastline as you cycle towards Tangalle. Those among you who love surf may want to stop by the second best spot in Sri Lanka for surfing, Hiriketiya beach. Tangalle is a less touristic beach in Sri Lanka and you can enjoy your day beach hopping, visiting the turtle watch in Rekawa and kayaking on the Tangalle lagoon.

This will be your last day of continuous riding. After a good night’s sleep, leave at the usual time to reach Tissamaharama. A beautiful ride through the coastline which then takes you through a change of scenery along the boundary of the Bundala National Wildlife Park, a hub for migratory birds in Sri Lanka. Tissamaharama is a town not far from Yala National Park, one of Sri Lanka’s biggest National Parks. Relax at the hotel as you will be visiting Yala National Park the following day.

Wake up and enjoy a breakfast buffet at the hotel. Some popular attractions in Tissamaharama are, ‘Tissa Wewa’, which is a man-made reservoir that supplies water to the town of Tissamaharama. Enjoy a drive along the bund of the reservoir and you also have the opportunity to hop on a rustic village fishing boat and cruise through the large tank. After you have had your lunch, a safari vehicle will pick you up from your hotel and take you to the entrance of Yala. After spending a few hours in the National Park, you will be escorted back to your hotel. You will be travelling up-country by car the following day, therefore make sure to ask your driver to load your bike onto the rack.

After breakfast and an early check out, you will then make your way towards Ella. Ella is a small but popular town located in the hill country of Sri Lanka. Once you reach Ella and have checked into your hotel, ride to the Nine Arches Bridge which is a beautiful colonial engineering marvel that you can walk along and enjoy the beautiful view surrounding you. After that, a small trek through a beautiful tea field will give you another scenic view of the bridge and take you back to your car. Spend time in Ella town that is buzzing with nightlife and dozens of cafes. Meet and make friends with locals and fellow travellers.

Today morning, you will travel to the famous town, Nuwara Eliya, on a scenic train ride. One of the most beautiful train rides you will ever take, through misty hills beautifully landscaped with bright green tea fields. After an approximately 2.5 hour journey, reach Nanu Oya railway station and choose to either be driven or ride to Nuwara Eliya and explore the city. Be sure to take a stroll along the gorgeous Lake Gregory, followed by a visit to the Victoria Park. A stroll through the ‘Bale Bazaar’ is also recommended, a local flea market popular for winter wear. You will then be driven to the Grand Hotel, the residence of the former Governor of Sri Lanka, to indulge in a Victorian style high tea. After this, drive back to Ella in time for dinner.

After breakfast, drive to the popular Little Adams Peak. An extremely rewarding and easy hike as the views from the top of the rock are simply breathtaking. Once you complete the hike, you have the option to ride 27km (approx 1.5 hours) or be driven to Lipton’s Seat for yet another scenic view. From here you will be taken to a local tea factory to enjoy a cup of Sri Lankan tea and discover the methods tea processing. Load your bike onto the rack and drive back to Ella. Take the rest of the evening off to explore the town of Ella and what it has to offer.

The final day of your tour. Your day will be set out based on the time of your flight departure. If your flight is towards the latter part of the day, a city tour can be arranged for you at no extra cost. Have the chance to explore some popular sites within the city of Colombo. A visit to a local mall can also be organised. Finally, your driver and guide will accompany you to the airport in time for your flight where you will conclude your exciting journey.
