Our guide for halal friendly hotels is the Crescent rating system based in Singapore.

We also feature hotels which are not crescent rated but which do not serve pork and they procure halal meats. We utilize these hotels subject to inspection. Nevertheless, at all hotels, we recommend you use your own discretion in choosing what items to consume.

Tour Details

Be picked up from the International Airport or your address in Colombo or Negombo. Drive to Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage, the home for elephants that have been abandoned or orphaned with set feeding and bathing times for public viewing. Drive to Kandy and in the evening witness a cultural show featuring traditional Sri Lankan dancing.

After breakfast, drive up the hill by Kandy Lake to reach the Kandy view point and receive a spectacular view of the city and its lush surroundings. It is an absolutely breathtaking spot with some gorgeous scenery. Afterwards, embark on a city tour in Kandy which includes the Kandy Lake, marketplace and gem museum. After lunch, take a leisurely and insightful stroll through the botanical gardens of Peradeniya, panning 60 hectares, once reserved exclusively for Kandyan Royalty.

After breakfast take a scenic train ride to Nanu Oya station of Nuwara Eliya. The little town if knowns as ‘Little England’ because of its distinctive features which include the weather and the colonial buildings which make it resemble parts of England. Lush mountains, waterfalls and tea plantations are all a part of the Nuwara Eliya experience, along with colonial influence on architecture. You will visit a tea factory where tea leaves are processed and converted into the famed “Ceylon tea”. After the tour, taste a fresh cuppa pure Ceylon tea. Then take a city tour of Nuwara Eliya and visit the key highlights, the lakeside, parks and markets.

Early morning, drive to the Horton Plains national park with a packed breakfast. This is a very important bio diversity hot spot in Sri Lanka which is very scenic and has vast grassy plains surrounded by a thick sub montane forest. It is also home for scenic Baker’s waterfall and the world`s end. Early morning is the best time to visit, before the clouds roll in where you may capture some scenic images of tea-plantation villages in the valley below.

After breakfast you will drive to Kalutara which is 6 hours away, a popular beach destination that’s located in the south western coast of the island. Enjoy the relaxing and calm beach – the sun, the sand and the sea.

After breakfast you will drive to Galle and visit the UNESCO World Heritage site, the Dutch fort in Galle. This is a charming coastal town with a variety of shops, cafes and restaurants on cobblestone streets amidst buildings and an atmosphere which takes you back to the 16th century. You may visit the Meeran Mosque, which is the biggest mosque in the Galle fort. The mosque is characterised by its colourful floor tiles and stained glass interiors, and faces the famous Galle Fort lighthouse. In the afternoon, visit the Madu River and embark on a boat safari that will take you through mangroves and marshlands. You will see birds, butterflies, reptiles and various other species in their natural habitat. You will then have the opportunity to dip your feet in the river and experience a fish pedicure.

Head back to Colombo and take a city tour which covers the key highlights of the city – Galle Face Green, Viharamahadevi Park, Old Parliament, Colombo Fort and Independence square, then enjot some classic Colombo retail therapy. You will also have the opportunity of visiting the Jami Ul-Alfar mosque (red mosque) which is one of the oldest and iconic mosques in Colombo. The architecture is Indo-Saracenic, incorporating pomegranate shaped domes. Each brick has been painted red and white with contrasting designs, hence the given name ‘red mosque’. Dinner at a halal restaurant in Colombo.
