Another observation point is located at the Watagoda Railway Station, situated 10 kilometres away from the Thalawakele Railway Station. It is said that thick canopy forests once surrounded the Falls that was home to a variety of endemic species. The waterfall was titled after the revolutionary English coffee planter, Devon, whose plantation lay in close proximity to the Falls.
