Visit a Tea Factory in Galle

Experience a southern blend of tea whilst exploring a low country, lesser known tea plantation and factory situated among the highlands surrounding Galle along the south coast of Sri Lanka.

Overview

Embark on an interesting journey taking you to the tea bushes along the rolling hills, giving an insight into the plucking of fresh young tea leaves by brightly dressed tea pickers, learning the history and origins of Ceylon tea and visiting the factory where the plucked leaves are taken into procession of drying, rolling and fermenting, all of which transforms the green leaves into brown which are then separated into different grades of black tea . The brown tea leaves are then brewed into that fine cup of Ceylon tea. The black tea of low country is known to be extremely dark hence the strongest when brewed.
