This hotel is located off the beaten track in the country, among the developing tourist destination– the Puttalam district which is in the Northern part of the island. Located approximately three hours drive away from Colombo an area which is gradually developing as a tourist destination.

The Bar Reef is a resort in the town of Kalpitiya – a coastal town in the Puttalam district. It is a four-star resort that welcomes families and large groups of guests. It is on a stretch of a 2-km private golden, sandy beach that’s pristine and immaculate. The resort is surrounded by scenic wild, dense jungles and marshes, mangroves and a lot more. It is the perfect spot for an adventure and wildlife excursion, for those interested in the different species of animals that Sri Lanka has. Different activities are available for guests to participate in, ranging from bird watching, a tour of the cultural triangle and snorkelling. To accommodate their guests the bar reef resort have both villas and cabanas, something different from the usual suites and rooms comparatively.

How to Get There

The hotel has a transfer desk that can provide transfer facilities to the airport at a cost.

You may pre-arrange an Epic Sri Lanka Holidays chauffeur facility for your arrival and departure transfers to and from the airport or to and from any point in the country. From the Bandaranaike International airport, it will take you approximately 3 hours by road to travel 130 km via the expressway to the hotel. If you do utilize the Epic Sri Lanka Holidays Chauffeur facility you may also request to retain the chauffeur throughout your stay in Sri Lanka at an attractive cost.

If travelling from Colombo, 3 coastal trains are available from 6 am till 7 pm on weekdays. These trains depart from Colombo Fort travelling down to Puttalam.

If you wish to view the beautiful landscapes of Sri Lanka from the skies, an exclusive private helicopter transfer (up to 4 passengers at a time) from any point in the country directly to your hotel or nearest helipad can be arranged.
